Writing Life: Copywriting, Creativity and Books

It's been a while since my last post – apologies to those who were following my blog closely! I took a break to work on some other things, but I'm finally back.

Some of those other things…

Copywriting

I now have an additional page on my site for my copywriting services. It's something I've wanted to focus on for a while, and I finally made time to do it. I studied the Copywriting Essentials course at the Australian Writers Centre last year, and am now offering freelance copywriting, copyediting and proofreading services. Please share if you know anyone who needs a copywriter!

Piano

Yes, piano… there's a simple joy in learning something for the first time, especially as an adult. I can actually feel new areas of my brain being stimulated. I started piano lessons in November, and they've been a challenge, making me wish I'd learnt an instrument when I was a kid. But I'm happy to say I've since progressed from Jingle Bells :)

I've mentioned it before, but if you're in a creative rut sometimes the best thing is to be creative in a whole new way (…I just had A Whole New World from Aladdin enter my head… the best stories never leave us it seems!)

Reading

Where it all began. I've read some really great books recently. Vardeasia, the final book in Lynette Noni's The Medoran Chronicles. was a satisfying ending to the series. There were definitely aspects of the story that reminded me of Harry Potter: the strong bonds of friendship, the way the villain was defeated, almost on a technicality… but more on this in another post.

I also finally read A Man Called Ove, a gift from a friend in Sweden. I loved the protagonist – cranky yet endearing, and a keen observer on how some of the old ways have been lost. It had a great balance between humour and melancholy, and cliche as it sounds it really made me both laugh and cry.

That's it for now – happy reading and until next time!

P.S. I’ve had requests for a Podcast audio version of my posts – I’ll be looking into this and hopefully adding this feature to the blog soon!
